Understanding Energy Health: A Guide to Reconnecting With Yourself
When we think about health, we often think about what we eat, how much we exercise, how well we sleep and whether our bodies are functioning as they should.
But how often do we consider everything else we’re experiencing?
Our thoughts, emotions, relationships, environment, beliefs and everyday experiences all influence how we feel.
We are constantly receiving information from the world around us, and our bodies are continually responding.
This is where understanding energy health can offer another perspective.
Energy health invites us to become more aware of ourselves as a whole physically, emotionally, mentally and energetically.
It’s not about believing in something mysterious. It’s about becoming curious about the connection between your inner world and how you experience life.
What Is Energy Health?
Energy health is a holistic approach to wellbeing that considers the relationship between the body, mind, emotions and our sense of connection to ourselves. For thousands of years, different cultures have explored the idea of a life force that moves through living things.
In traditional Chinese philosophy, this is known as Qi. In Indian traditions, it’s called Prana. Other practices describe an aura, energy centres or a subtle energy field.
Although these traditions use different language and interpretations, they share an interest in the relationship between our internal state and our overall wellbeing.
Modern science also recognises that the human body functions through electrical and chemical signalling. Our hearts, brains, muscles and nervous systems rely on these processes.
However, the measurable electrical activity of the body is not the same as proving the existence of the subtle energy systems described in traditional healing practices.
For me, energy health is about bringing awareness to all the different aspects of ourselves and exploring how they may be influencing the way we feel, respond and live.
Your Body Is Always Listening
Think about what happens when you feel frightened.
Your heart might begin to race. Your breathing changes. Your muscles tighten.
Now think about how your body responds when you’re sitting somewhere peaceful, surrounded by people you love, feeling completely safe.
Your breathing may naturally slow. Your muscles soften. Your whole body begins to settle.
Nothing physically touched you to create either response. Your body responded to what you were experiencing.
This is a beautiful example of the connection between our thoughts, emotions, perceptions and physical responses. Our nervous system is constantly interpreting information from both inside and outside our bodies. And much of this happens without our conscious awareness.
Imagine how much information you’re receiving throughout an ordinary day.
The conversations you have, the environments you spend time in, the thoughts you repeat, the expectations you place upon yourself and the emotions you experience. All of these can influence your internal state.
Awareness is the first step towards making different choices.
When we begin noticing what supports us and what leaves us feeling overwhelmed, we create opportunities to respond differently.
Understanding Emotional Patterns
Have you ever noticed yourself reacting strongly to something, only to wonder afterwards why it affected you so much?
Perhaps someone says something that makes you feel rejected.
Maybe you struggle to say no, even when you’re exhausted.
Or perhaps you find yourself repeating the same patterns in relationships, work or everyday life.
Often, these responses have been shaped by previous experiences. Throughout childhood and adulthood, we develop beliefs and behaviours that help us navigate the world.
Some of these patterns serve us beautifully.
Others may have developed during periods when we felt unsafe, unsupported, overwhelmed or uncertain. And sometimes we continue operating from these old patterns long after our circumstances have changed.
For example, someone who learned that pleasing others helped them feel accepted may continue putting everyone else’s needs before their own.
Over time, this can contribute to emotional exhaustion, resentment or disconnection from themselves.
Energy health encourages us to explore these patterns with curiosity rather than judgement.
Instead of asking, “What’s wrong with me?”
We might begin asking:
“Why do I respond this way?”
“Where did I learn this?”
“Does this belief still support the person I am today?”
And perhaps most importantly:
“What would I choose if I trusted myself?”
What Does It Mean to Release Energy?
You may have heard people talk about releasing emotional blocks, clearing energy or letting go of old patterns. But what does that actually mean?
In my work, I approach this through awareness, intuitive exploration, relaxation and connection with the body.
Sometimes we hold onto experiences through habitual thoughts, emotional responses or physical tension. You might notice tightness in your chest when discussing a difficult relationship. You may feel tension in your stomach when faced with an uncomfortable decision.
Or perhaps your shoulders seem permanently raised because you’re carrying so much responsibility. These sensations don’t necessarily indicate an energetic blockage or reveal a particular emotional cause. However, they can provide an opportunity to become curious about what you’re experiencing.
When we create space to slow down, notice our responses and acknowledge emotions that we’ve been avoiding, something can begin to shift. We may discover that a belief no longer feels true.
We may recognise that we’re ready to establish a boundary.
Or we may simply experience the relief of giving ourselves permission to rest.
Releasing isn’t about forcing something out of your body. It’s about creating space for a different way of being.
The Importance of the Present Moment
One of the most valuable things we can develop is the ability to become present.
So much of our attention is spent revisiting the past or anticipating the future.
We replay conversations.
We worry about what might happen.
We plan, analyse and attempt to control outcomes.
Meanwhile, the present moment is happening right in front of us.
Practices such as meditation, conscious breathing, gentle movement and mindful awareness can help bring our attention back to what we’re experiencing now. And when we become present, we have an opportunity to recognise our habitual reactions before automatically following them.
We can notice a thought without believing it.
Experience an emotion without allowing it to determine every decision. And respond to life with greater awareness rather than simply repeating familiar patterns.
This is one of the foundations of True Self Attunement™.
Learning to become present enough to recognise what is happening within you.
Remember, Release, Realign
My approach to energy health follows three simple principles.
Remember
Reconnect with who you are beneath the expectations, conditioning and beliefs you’ve accumulated throughout life.
Become curious about what genuinely matters to you.
What brings you happiness?
What feels natural?
What would life look like if you stopped making choices based entirely on what others expected?
Release
Begin recognising the habits, emotional responses and limiting beliefs that no longer support you.
This doesn’t mean rejecting your past.
It means understanding how your experiences have shaped you and recognising that you can choose differently.
Realign
Start bringing your everyday choices into greater alignment with who you are and how you want to live.
This might involve changing your routines, establishing boundaries, reconnecting with relationships, spending more time in nature or simply creating moments of stillness.
Realignment doesn’t always require enormous life changes.
Sometimes the smallest choices create the greatest shifts.
What Happens During an Intuitive Energy Health Session?
Every session is different because every person arrives with their own experiences, emotions and intentions.
At True Self Attunement™, I provide a supportive space where you can step away from everyday demands and reconnect with yourself.
We begin with a conversation.
This gives you an opportunity to share what you’re experiencing, whether that’s emotional overwhelm, feeling disconnected, repeating familiar patterns or simply wanting greater clarity in your life.
From there, I use intuitive awareness and energy-based practices alongside relaxation, meditation and gentle guidance.
During a session, I may explore themes or impressions that arise intuitively, inviting you to reflect on whether they resonate with your own experiences.
You remain an active participant in the process.
My role isn’t to tell you who you are, make decisions for you or claim to heal you.
It’s to create a space where you can explore yourself more deeply and reconnect with your own understanding.
Some people leave feeling deeply relaxed.
Others experience emotional insight, greater clarity or a renewed sense of connection.
And sometimes the most meaningful part of a session is simply having time dedicated entirely to yourself.
Experiences vary, and there is no particular outcome you need to achieve.
Do You Need to Believe in Energy Healing?
Absolutely not. I believe curiosity is far more valuable than unquestioning belief.
You don’t need to understand energy fields, subscribe to a particular spiritual philosophy or have previous experience with meditation.
You can arrive with questions.
You can be sceptical.
You can simply be interested in discovering what it feels like to slow down and reconnect with yourself.
While many people find energy-based practices personally meaningful, scientific evidence for their proposed energetic mechanisms and specific healing effects remains limited.
Energy health practices are complementary approaches to wellbeing, not replacements for medical diagnosis, treatment or mental health care.
For me, the value lies in the opportunity to become more aware of yourself and explore what genuinely supports your wellbeing.
Your Health Begins Before the Symptom
We often begin paying attention to our health when something feels wrong.
But what if we became more aware of ourselves throughout everyday life?
What if we noticed when our bodies needed rest?
When our environments were leaving us overwhelmed?
When our thoughts were becoming repetitive or unhelpful?
When our relationships weren’t supporting our wellbeing?
Or when we’d stopped making time for the things that brought us happiness?
Not every illness or symptom is caused by stress, emotions or lifestyle, and many health conditions require medical investigation and treatment.
But our everyday choices can influence how we feel and how we care for ourselves.
We don’t have to wait until we’re exhausted or overwhelmed to begin paying attention.
Health isn’t only about responding when something goes wrong. It’s also about creating the conditions that support us every day.
And that begins with awareness.

Energy health is one of the ways we can explore that connection.
Not by handing our power to someone else, but by learning to listen more closely to ourselves.
Because sometimes the greatest transformation begins when we give ourselves the space to simply be.
Remember. Release. Realign.
